GREAT SUCCESS FOR LISKEARD EVENTIDE HOME AT THE CORNWALL CARE AWARDS 2018

Eventide had finalists in four categories; Mrs Kirstie Nancarrow (Training Manager) in the Outstanding Learning & Development Provider category, Miss Doris Lobb (Management Committee) in the Volunteer of the Year category, Mrs Teresa Ratcliff (Head Cook) in the Outstanding Residential or Nursing Home Care Worker or Team Award category, and Mrs Jennifer Nancarrow-Allen (Registered Manager) in the Excellence in Leadership category.

The glittering award night was organised by CAHSC (Cornwall Adult Health & Social Care), held at The Eden Project on 9 March and was attended by over 200 people all involved in the Health & Social Care Sector. Mr Justin Leigh from BBC Spotlight did a sterling job hosting the event.

All four members of staff were worthy finalists and there were huge rounds of applause when Miss Lobb and Mrs Nancarrow-Allen won their categories.

“To win in these Awards, which attracts such strong competition, is true recognition of all the hard work that goes on at Eventide” says Mrs Nancarrow-Allen, Registered Manager. In her acceptance speech she mentioned “there were four worthy winners at the Awards ceremony and another 30 back at Eventide”.

All the staff are very committed to making a difference in the lives of all our residents. During such troubled times in Health and Social Care the people of Liskeard can be proud of the Home they purchased nearly 71 years ago to house war widows and people of limited means.

Last year Eventide celebrated 70 years of trading as a stand-alone, not for profit, care home. Previously, we have been honoured by a visit from Professor Martin Green OBE, Chief Executive of Care England who was very impressed with Eventide’s CQC report and achieving the overall ‘outstanding in care’ rating. He commented, “You are exemplars in care and you can all be proud of the work you do and the difference you are making to people’s lives”.

All staff, management, committee members and residents are delighted and proud of Eventide’s most recent success.

Eventide’s Registered Manager Mrs Jennifer Nancarrow-Allen won the Award for Excellence In Leadership.
